WordPress Themes
A WordPress theme is a set of files that determine the look and feel of your WordPress-powered website. Themes include information about the general layout of the site, and other content such as graphics, headers, logos and footers. For this course the WordPress twenty-twelve theme will be used.
Pages and Posts
WordPress allows you to add and edit content on your website through both posts and pages. Often WordPress beginners get confused with the differences between posts and pages.
If you are using WordPress as a blog, then you will end up using posts for entering the majority of your site’s content. Posts are dated in chronological order and can be organized into categories.
Pages are usually meant to be used for non-changing (static) type content such as an about page, they are not organized by date and do not use categories.
WordPress Plugins
Plugins are pieces of computer code created with the purpose of expanding the functionality of your WordPress website. There are literally thousands of WordPress plugins already created. For example you could add a plugin that protects your website from spam, or a plugin that will add a forum to your website.
